About Contender's
Steve Martinko is owner and president of Contender's Tree & Lawn Specialists. He has worked in the Green Industry
since 1988 where he first started his career as a greens keeper at a private golf course. Steve graduated from Michgan State
Univerity's Turfgrass Management Program in 1994. Before starting Contender's, Steve had been managing Atwood Lawn Care's
Oakland County office. Steve is also a columnist for the Michigan Gardener Magazine where he shares lawn care advice with
over 35,000 readers throughout Michigan.
Theresa Martinko manages our office operations. Should you happen to call in with any questions you can expect to hear her voice on the other end of the line friendly addressing your needs.
Jerry Snelling joined Contender's Tree & Lawn Specialist's, Inc. in the spring of 2010. He utilizes
his 17+ years of industry experience to help those around him to succeed and prosper. Under Jerry's direction,
Contender's Tree & Lawn has adopted a non-commission style approach to its production pay. Nearly every lawn
fertilizing company in the region compensates employees for the volume of work they produce. A compensation system
based on quality of work coupled with fair pay keeps our workforce stable and capable of always making our clients happy.
Duncan Mead joined Contender's Tree & Lawn in 2009 making this his career between college breaks. Duncan holds
the record for the most compliments received since he joined our team. When you have the pleasure of meeting him face to
face you will realize how personally refreshing he is and how well he represents Contender's. Both of his great grandfathers
served in the Civil War, on opposing sides. Once he completes college he intends to become a history professor.
Phil Olczak is our newest team member to join us. Phil’s desire and passion for service compliments our team of highly qualified individuals who have years of training and experience. Phil appreciates the network of great relationships that has been established here at Contender’s and will have no problem executing your needs with professionalism.
